Late goals take United into final

By A. J. McGREGOR: BRADFORD CITY 1 LEEDS UNITED 3

Two goals in the last sixteen minutes gave Leeds United victory over Bradford City in last night's West Riding Senior Cup semi-final at Valley Parade, but the win was not achieved without a struggle. United had practically all their own way in the first quarter of an hour and deservedly led from a seventh minute header from Smith. City fought back with great spirit, Lambert netting only to suffer the misfortune of a doubtful off-side decision. Henderson hit the crossbar shortly afterwards, but with United mainly on the defensive Chapman equalised in the fifty-fifth minute after Scott had failed to hold Lambert's header. Chapman rattled the crossbar with a great effort, but with City pressing determinedly for the winner, Vickers against the run of play, ran through to score with a well-taken shot in the seventy-fourth minute. City fell away, particularly the wing halves and eight minutes from time Smith made the game safe for United with another good goal. City were not two goals inferior, and they can take heart from another improved display. Both teams are to be congratulated for making the game one of the most entertaining at Valley Parade this season. For United wing half Harris played soundly, while Chapman was the best of the City attack. Attendance 5,706, Receipts £547 18s 1d. United meet Bradford in the final on a date and ground yet to be fixed.
